The PRESS...

DO NOT HOLD IT... JUST THROW IT OUT THERE...

Academia Duelatoria kindly accepted my invitation to present an assembly regarding the revenge tradition and dueling etiquette during the Renaissance as a precursor to my AP Literature unit and an extensive analysis of Hamlet. They presented an impressive display of swordsmanship, history, and culture, specifically addressing its relevance to social classes during the Renaissance. This groundwork lent a new and enticing perspective to Shakespearian studies, engaging students early on who otherwise might have struggled initially to find interest in the subject matter.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, engaging Jeff and Matthew in dialog after the presentation.  Numerous times, throughout our discussions of Hamlet in class, subject matter from their presentation surfaced.

Jeff and Matthew developed a quick rapport with students, creating a significant impact which resulted in ACMA’s theater department hiring Academia Duelatoria as consultant fight choreographers for its production of The Fantastics.

I sincerely hope this is just the beginning of a lasting relationship between Academia and ACMA’s theater program, as well as the English and History departments.

Sincerely,
